Virtual Network Computing(VNC) is a graphical desktop sharing system that allows you to control a remote computer.
It is available via the Finder menu and no download is required as it is built into the Mac OS.
You will need to know:
- Hostname for the server
- Username and Password for the server
If you do not know this information, please contact your IT support.
Click on any empty spot on your desktop to show the “Finder” menu in the Menu bar at the top of the screen.
Hold down the Command key and press “K” or
navigate to “Go” and then “Connect to Server.”
When the “Connect to Server” box appears, enter “vnc://” followed by the Hostname of your server.
Click “Connect”
As prompted, enter the Username and Password, then click “Connect.”
The server desktop will appear in a window on your screen, you may now control the server as if you were sitting in front of it!
