Open iTunes on a Mac or PC.
Go to the App Store
Search for a free iPhone/iPad app.
Any free app will do, for this example, I typed in "Apple."
The first free app that comes up is Apple Store
Click on the box that says "Free" underneath the app icon
A box will pop up asking you to sign in.
Click on the button that says "Create Apple ID"
On the next page, click "Continue" at the bottom right.
The Terms and Conditions will appear.
When you have finished reading and are willing to continue,
check the box at the bottom and click agree.
In the next step, you provide all the necessary information to create the Apple ID.
The email address you use will be your Apple ID and will be used for all communication from Apple
regarding your ID. The password does not need to (and should not) be the same password used
to check your email.
When entering the birthdate, keep in mind that you must be at least 13 years old to have an Apple ID.
On the same page, you will be asked to opt in/out of Apple promotional emails.
Select/deselect the appropriate boxes and click "Continue."
Because we selected a FREE app in iTunes, we now have the ability to select "None" as a payment type.
If you do not see this option, start over, being sure to use iTunes and a FREE app.
The gift certificate box may be left blank, but all other fields must be filled.
Don't forget to choose a Title.
When you're ready to move on, click on "Create Apple ID."
Almost there!
Upon completion, Apple will you send you an email to verify your Apple ID and Password.
Check your email account, locate the "Verify Now" link in the message and you will taken to
a web page for verification. Simply type your Apple ID and Password in the appropriate fields,
submit, and you're done.
